Public Policy Task Force Minutes

Convened at 12:00 p.m.

Updates from the Chair: new Zoom link for meetings added to calendar; Liz reached out to Scott Adams with an email template for legislator outreach, Liz and Ruben to meet on August 28^th to go over task force meeting logistics and Commissioner Retreat presentation topics.

Discussed Maine Service Fellows mid-year presentations scheduled for Sept. 11^th in Van Buren, Maine. Assigned staff to draft email invite for legislators from the respective towns of the service fellows. Assigned Pam to send emails to legislators.

Discussed Commissioner Fortin-Trimble’s upcoming trip to D.C. to support ASC award presentations, assigned staff to work with congressional delegation staff to set up meetings to discuss Congressionally Delegated Funding requests.

Discussed legislative priorities for the 2026-27 State Legislative Session.

• Priority 1: Secure funding for 50% of the Executive Director salary and 100% of Climate Coordinator Salary.
• Priority 2: Raise awareness of Maine Service Fellows work across Maine
• Priority 3: Identify a new champion of volunteerism I the legislature and develop relationship
