Volunteer Services Coordinator

Major Projects:

Developed a plan and scope for 2026 Service Enterprise Training with the first cohort beginning in February 2026.

Attended the National Governors Association Service-to-Careers Pathways Policy Academy Convening in Salt Lake City, Utah and presented the work of the Maine Policy Academy, highlighting the two Certified Pre-Apprenticeships created during 2025 and connected with other service and workforce professionals from across the country.

Attended the Resilient Maine Monthly Steering Committee and the NOAA CRRC Resilient Maine 4th Quarterly Meeting of 2025.

Held a two day in-person retreat for the five serving Maine Service Fellows in Machias. The fellows participated in a full day of trainings developed for them by Dr. Brenda Zollitsch of Resilient Roots, LLC on the first day. Each Fellow then presented about their work to a live and on-line audience on the second day, followed by a site visit led by the Machias Fellow, Devendra Thapaliya.

With Lucy Martin, collaboratively managed the social media scheduling and content for Volunteer Maine. Developed, designed, created, scheduled, and deployed social media posts and updated Volunteer Maine website as appropriate.

With Lucy Martin, worked with Resilient Roots, LLC to develop a series of micro-credentials to support development in communication, collaboration, leadership and other key workforce skills.  We are working to identify a credentialing process for these courses and plan to deploy them in early 2026.

Participated in the Service Programs Task Force meeting.

With Lucy Martin, continued updating the Volunteer Management Certificate Course offered through Volunteer Maine. The course will be ready for deployment in February of 2026.

Attended MCCS and MOCA staff meetings and attended monthly Commission Business meeting.

Met with Maine Service Fellows site host cohort and had monthly mentorship meetings with each of the five Fellows.

Attended the Mid-Coast Municipal Annual Meeting.

Created a site selection policy and rating rubric for the selection of Maine Service Fellows Host Sites. This was submitted to the Commission’s Executive Committee for approval.

 

Issues to be aware of:

One Maine Service Fellow completes his term of service in December 2025, and a second will end his service early on December 31, 2025 after seven months of service.

Major focus of effort in new month/Ongoing:

Submitting a final report for the NGA Service-to-Career Pathways Policy Academy in December.

Creating a selection committee for the one Maine Service Fellows Host Site slot we have available for 2026-2027 and identifying the selected site.

Develop social media materials and schedules for all aspects of Volunteer Maine to increase public awareness of the Commission and what it provides to the public. Continue to update the Volunteer Maine website to reflect current offerings and increase visual impact through updated photos and graphics.

Update the Volunteer Management Course and prepare to deploy it in early 2026 as the course proctor.

Support the roll-out of ServeMaine.Org through planning, social media, and site support.

Host introduction sessions for Service Enterprise Training in December and January.

Begin recruitment of new Maine Service Fellows for 2026-2027.
