  • Assisted with media outreach and content development for Maine AmeriCorps Member Conference, earning coverage commitments from WMTW TV 8 and Fox 22 Bangor.

Issues to be aware of

  • Maine Association of Broadcasters staff transition: Corey Garrison, who is handling Suzanne Goucher's responsibilities in the interim, reached out mid-month to start the contract process. Due to the amount of catchup on MAB's end, the timing of the public service announcement run should be made clear in April. Roche also made a request to have the 2021 ad value report completed so it can be submitted mid-April.
  • Service Fellows gift announcement: Bill Birney, MVF Board Chair, stated he will personally reach out to the funder for information on next steps about the announcement.

Major focus of effort in the next month

  • Establishing 2022 public service announcement contract and program.
  • Assisting Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives in promotion and media creation for 2022 Governor's Awards for Service and Volunteerism.
  • Extending the contract of photo/video vendor so AmeriCorps recruitment project and media creation for 2022 advertisements can be continued.
  • Assisting Executive Director and Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives in restarting "Issues" video series, which will now be called "Volunteer 207." Communications Officer's role will focus on editing, and in first month, establishing a brand for the show.
  • Continued work on advertising creative.
  • Producing April edition of "Volunteer Fare" newsletter, which will now cater more directly to the volunteer manager audience.
  • Updating press release/news distribution lists to include updated list of commissioners, MVF Board members, and other supporters both in state government and AmeriCorps Federal agency.
