Eastern Area Agency on Aging (EAAA) has been serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, and Washington counties since 1973. EAAA incorporated in 1974. With a specially trained and dedicated staff and volunteers, EAAA is able to provide seniors, adults with disabilities and caregivers with a variety of options, opportunities, resources and referrals. EAAA strives to meet the unique and complex needs of older persons living in its four-county, 13,000 square mile service area by providing a mix of direct services as well as connecting people to partnering services. EAAA serves the largest catchment area of any area agency on aging in the state which requires careful use of limited resources and effectively tapping volunteers to help deliver services in many rural Maine communities.

With Maine VGF funding EAAA will generate at least 89 new volunteers to support their programs focusing on the priority area of Aging in Place in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, and Washington counties. More specifically, this program will expand the capacity of exisiting programs that address economic insecurity, home maintenance and safety, and food insecurity.
