Communications Task Force: October 2021

Present

  • Commissioners: Chair Zakk Maher
  • Staff: Bryan Roche

The Communications Task Force met electronically for its monthly meeting on Mon, Oct. 13, 2021 and discussed the following:

Welcome and check-in

Meeting times:

With a small group in attendance, Maher will connect with Task Force members about a new standing meeting time. Maher also noted that the current recurring meeting time conflicts with a national policy meeting, also held on the second Wednesday of each month, that he is now attending.

Monthly report

Maher invited Roche to report on communications activities and successes from the month of September. Roche presented the report in its entirety, which can be accessed by using the following link — click here.

Communications plan feedback and impacts

With a small group in attendance, an email will be sent to the group to collect any feedback on the proposed communications plan.

Policy updates

Maher shared that the latest policy update call was being held at the same time as the Task Force meeting. Maher will provide any necessary updates during the full Commission business meeting scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15.

Match reporting/Public Service Announcement (PSA) update

Roche reported to Maher that the tentative quarter three match report was provided to him the afternoon of Oct. 13. Several broadcast TV and radio stations have still yet to submit an airtime report to the Maine Association of Broadcasters (MAB), however, based on the figures reported, Roche shared that the total airtime value reported was $155,244. With that, the new in-kind value total was reported at $100,007. With updated September totals still to be reported, and given the fact the PSA contract will run through November, Roche expressed optimism that the in-kind figure will continue to grow.

Restarting "Service Instigator" PSA project

With a small group in attendance, Maher stated that this item will now be taken up during the November meeting. Roche did point out that the original intro and closing plus a submission by Maine Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members can be used in the upcoming production.

Next meeting

Wednesday, Nov. 10. 2021 from 4 - 5 p.m.*

*Meeting time may change if the Task Force decides on a new standing meeting time.
